Seeing as it’s British Egg Week, I thought this tip should be about the nutritional value of eggs and why they are important to include in your daily diet.

One large size egg contains about 8g of protein, 6g of fat and is about 80-90calories in total. The egg white is rich source of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12, zinc, iron and copper. And the egg yolk is a good source of vitamin A, D, E and K.

Studies done years ago gave eggs a bad reputation due to the cholesterol in them. Thankfully new research has been done and it’s only people who are sensitive towards cholesterol that should watch their intake. For a healthy individual, eating a couple of eggs a day can actually help raise your levels of good cholesterol.

And did you know eggs are also great for your eye health as they contain two anti oxidants - lutein and zeaxanthin which can reduce the risk of developing cataracts and macular degeneration.

*Always buy farm fresh or organic to make the most of the health benefits from eggs.
